Yoon Paper Selected as 'Outstanding Article' by ACS Omega
ACS Omega, a global publication for science and chemistry, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary by highlighting 50 of its previously published articles that are considered "outstanding." One of the celebrated articles is a paper by BME professor Jeong-Yeol Yoon that discusses a smartphone-based fluorescence microscope and an image-processing algorithm with the ability to detect highly infectious norovirus. The paper demonstrated an easy-to-use, low-cost and extremely sensitive assay for detecting waterborne virus pathogens with a smartphone that does not require complex scientific procedures.
The 50 outstanding articles were divided into five categories: highly cited; highly read; those that received considerable online attention; articles from prolific and prominent authors; and articles published by ACS Omega's Editorial Board that represent the diversity of topic and geography of the journal. Yoon's paper was selected for receiving high online attention.
