BME student Gerardo Figueroa was featured on KXCI's Thesis Thursdays program to discuss his work with Dr. John A. Szivek from the Orthopedic Surgery Department developing a multi-sensory device for continuous bone monitoring in space.

"This device is basically used to measure bone strain, and this can be used in space to measure the activity of astronauts," Figueroa said. "I'm doing research trying to find how different forces on your bones affect their density in space."

Figueroa, who is minoring electrical and computer engineering, is also a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
