Slepian Elected President of Medical Device Think Tank
Dr. Marvin J. Slepian, professor and associate department head of biomedical engineering, has been elected president of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, or ASAIO.
The society promotes the development of medical device technology “at the crossroads of science, engineering and medicine,” according to its website. ASAIO in particular encourages students and young professionals to enter the broad field of medical innovation.
Dr. Slepian was also recently named a Regents' Professor and the 2019 College of Engineering da Vinci fellow. His extensive research career has resulted in innovative diagnostics and therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases. His work has focused on novel biomaterials for tissue engineering, drug delivery and medical device development.
