After two years at the University of Arizona, BME graduate Den Baseda will focus on professional and volunteer work to help people in need.
Baseda came to U of A in 2023 on a Peace Corps Coverdell Fellowship after several years of volunteer work spent teaching math and science in Namibia.
Now, he plans to use his degree to design devices that help people with mobility issues walk independently – a mission inspired by his own experience with polio as a young child. At the same time, Baseda will continue his long-standing commitment to volunteer work, which began with Habitat for Humanity during his childhood.
“That’s something I always want to be a part of my life,” Baseda said. “I always want to integrate myself into the community and be able to help any way that I can.”
