American College of Medical Informatics names Vignesh Subbian in 2025 fellow class
Vignesh Subbian is interim director of the BIO5 Institute and associate professor of biomedical engineering, systems and industrial engineering.
Vignesh Subbian, biomedical engineering associate professor, was one of three faculty from the University of Arizona to be elected to the American College of Medical Informatics’ 2025 class of fellows. The American College of Medical Informatics is an honorific college of elected fellows who have made notable, long-term contributions to biomedical informatics.
Subbian was recognized for his work in health informatics and research education. He serves as the associate director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics and interim director of the BIO5 Institute. In 2024, Subbian established the eCAMINOS program, which provides scholarships, research opportunities and mentoring for students in engineering.
“Sometimes, students are challenged to visualize themselves in engineering,” said Subbian. “This model helps them realize what they’re bringing to a sphere that initially feels alien.”
