Marcus Toshihiro ("Toshi") Kosins is a driven engineer with a deep interest in prosthetics and medical devices. He earned an MS in mechanical engineering with a specialty in design and a BS in biomedical engineering with a minor in electrical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds a BA in physics with a minor in mathematics from the University of Redlands.
Currently at Medtronic in the Peripheral Vascular Health division, Toshi provides design support for PTA balloon catheters and procedural support catheters. His role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to sustain commercial products—handling root-cause investigations, Corrective and Preventive Action, and regulatory support.
In this seminar, Toshi will share his academic and career journey, a glimpse into his day-to-day work at Medtronic, and advice for students preparing for internships and interviews.
Brittany Earnest-Johnson has been with Medtronic for more than 6 years, starting as an intern and now serving as a Principal Engineer in New Product Development (NPD). She earned her BS in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland and her PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia.
She will contribute additional perspective on new product development and "life after a PhD" in the medical device industry, complementing Toshi's insights.
